Comcast customers whose personal information was caught up in the company's October 2023 data breach may be entitled to cash benefits and free identity protection under a class action settlement.
What happened
The settlement resolves claims arising from the October 2023 Comcast data breach. Comcast sent notices on or around December 18, 2023 telling affected individuals their personal information may have been compromised. The case is Hasson v. Comcast Cable Communications LLC.
Who qualifies
You are a Settlement Class Member if you were sent a notice of the data breach on or around December 18, 2023 informing you that your personal information may have been compromised.
What class members can receive
- Cash benefits — reimbursement for out-of-pocket losses and/or lost time, or an alternative cash payment, by filing a claim form.
- Automatic identity protection — Settlement Class Members have been provided an enrollment code for Identity Defense Services and Restoration Services, which can be used once the settlement becomes final.
Key deadlines
- Claim form: September 14, 2026 (online, or postmarked by that date if mailed)
- Opt out / object: July 1, 2026 (deadline passed)
Why this matters
Comcast is one of the largest broadband and cable providers in the country, so this breach touched a wide pool of consumers. As with all data-breach settlements, benefits go only to class members who submit a valid claim before the deadline — here, September 14, 2026.
