Overview

A proposed settlement would resolve Bradberry v. Equifax Information Services, LLC, Case No. 1:22-cv-04754-MLB, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. The lawsuit alleges Equifax violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act by reporting the same collection account more than once on certain consumer reports. Equifax denies wrongdoing, and the court has not granted final approval.

Who qualifies

  • You are a U.S. consumer identified by Equifax as having been mailed a Duplicate Reporting Letter.
  • Equifax sent the letter in August or September 2022 about a duplicate collection account on your credit file.
  • You use the Notice ID beginning with EQB and PIN from your notice to file a cash claim by September 1, 2026.

What you could receive

Equifax agreed to establish a $2.2 million fund for cash claims and settlement costs. Class members who affirm that the duplicate reporting harmed them may receive a payment expected to be up to $600, depending on valid claims. All settlement class members who do not exclude themselves are also eligible for six months of Equifax Complete credit monitoring, valued in the notice at $59.70, without filing a cash claim.

How to file your claim

  1. 1Find the Notice ID beginning with EQB and the PIN printed on your settlement notice.
  2. 2Log in to the official settlement website and choose the cash-claim option.
  3. 3Affirm the harm you experienced from the alleged duplicate reporting and select an available payment method.
  4. 4Submit the claim on or before September 1, 2026.
