Overview
A settlement has been reached in the Google Assistant Privacy Litigation, which alleges that Google Assistant recorded and obtained users' communications through accidental activations ("False Accepts") and, in some cases, disclosed those recordings to third-party review vendors. The case covers two groups: a Purchaser Settlement Class (people who bought a Google-made device) and a Privacy Settlement Class (users, or members of a user's household, whose communications were recorded or disclosed). Google denies wrongdoing and agreed to settle to resolve the claims.
Who qualifies
- You are a U.S. resident (or in a U.S. territory).
- Purchaser class: you purchased a Google-made device in the United States between May 18, 2016 and March 19, 2026.
- Privacy class: you were a user of Google Assistant, or a member of a user's household, between May 18, 2016 and March 19, 2026, and your communications were recorded through a False Accept or disclosed to a third-party review vendor.
What you could receive
Eligible class members who file a valid claim receive a cash payment. The Claims Administrator sends payment through digital options such as PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, or ACH. The final per-person amount depends on the number of valid claims filed. You do not need to submit proof with your claim form, but the administrator may request additional documentation during review.
How to file your claim
