Overview

The Attorneys General of all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands brought a consumer-protection and antitrust action claiming consumers paid too much for apps and in-app purchases because Google monopolized app distribution and in-app billing on certain Android devices. Google denies any wrongdoing. The settlement provides a $700 million fund to pay eligible consumers, plus administration costs and attorneys' fees.

Who qualifies

• You paid for an app through the Google Play Store, or paid for in-app content through Google Play Billing, between August 16, 2016 and September 30, 2023.
• You lived in one of the 50 U.S. states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands at the time of the purchase.

What you could receive

The $700 million fund is used to pay individual consumers in the participating jurisdictions, along with the costs of administering payments and attorneys' fees. Individual payments are calculated on a pro-rata basis depending on eligible purchases and the number of valid claims.
