Hire Velocity, LLC, a talent acquisition and recruiting-services firm, agreed to a proposed settlement of a class action over a February 2025 cybersecurity incident involving files with names and Social Security numbers. The company denies the plaintiffs' claims and does not admit wrongdoing. The State Court of Fulton County, Georgia, has not yet decided whether to grant final approval. The class generally covers living U.S. residents whom Hire Velocity sent written notice that their private information may have been compromised in the incident. Exclusions apply. Eligible people who file valid claims may choose either up to $2,000 for documented, unreimbursed losses arising from the incident or a $40 alternate cash payment without loss documentation. They may also elect two years of credit monitoring in addition to either cash option. The claim deadline is November 30, 2026. Requests to opt out and objections are due November 16, 2026. The final approval hearing is scheduled for December 15, 2026. Kroll Settlement Administration LLC handles notice and claims. Benefits depend on a valid claim and, ultimately, approval of the settlement; no individual payment or distribution date is guaranteed.

Who qualifies

  • Residence and life status: You are a living individual residing in the United States. The class definition is not limited to a particular state.
  • Written notice: Hire Velocity sent you written notice that your private information may have been compromised in its approximately February 2025 data incident. A general suspicion of exposure alone does not establish class membership.
  • Information at issue: The agreement identifies potentially affected first and last names and Social Security numbers in files relating to certain employees, contractors, and clients. The class test is the written notice, not a separate requirement to prove identity theft.
  • Exclusions: Hire Velocity directors and officers, government entities, the assigned judge and the judge's immediate family and court staff are excluded. A person who validly opts out cannot receive settlement benefits.
  • Claim requirement: Class membership alone does not trigger payment or credit monitoring. Submit a timely, valid, signed claim; document losses if choosing the up-to-$2,000 option.

What you could receive

Cash Payment A

Up to $2,000 for documented losses

Claim unreimbursed out-of-pocket losses arising from the data incident, supported by reasonable documentation such as receipts, correspondence, or telephone records. Personal statements alone do not count as reasonable documentation, though they can explain other records. Choose this OR the $40 payment, not both.

Cash Payment B

$40 alternate cash

Choose $40 instead of documented-loss reimbursement. No supporting loss documentation is required, but you must still submit a timely, valid, signed claim and satisfy the class definition.

Additional benefit

Two years of credit monitoring

You may elect credit monitoring together with Cash Payment A or Cash Payment B. The agreement describes three-bureau monitoring, a single-bureau credit report, dark web and Social Security number scans, high-risk transaction alerts, a security-freeze feature, and $1 million in insurance coverage. You must claim it; it is not automatic.

Submit one valid claim and select either Cash Payment A, up to $2,000 for documented, unreimbursed out-of-pocket losses arising from the incident, or Cash Payment B, $40 alternate cash without supporting loss documentation. These cash choices are alternatives, not cumulative. Two years of credit monitoring may be elected in addition to either cash choice. A signed, timely claim is required for all benefits. The administrator reviews claims; the court must grant final approval before settlement benefits are distributed.

How to file your claim

  1. Check the written notice from Hire Velocity against the class definition and exclusions. Use the settlement website for the official claim form and current instructions.
  2. Choose either documented-loss reimbursement of up to $2,000 or $40 alternate cash. You may add the two-year credit monitoring option to either choice.
  3. If choosing documented losses, attach reasonable records showing amounts and a connection to the incident; do not claim expenses already reimbursed elsewhere. The $40 alternative requires no supporting loss documents.
  4. Sign and submit one completed claim online through the official settlement website by 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on November 30, 2026, or mail it to the administrator at the address on the claim form, postmarked by November 30, 2026.
  5. Watch for a deficiency notice from Kroll and respond within the period stated there. Keep a copy of your submission and check the official website for hearing or claim updates.

Frequently asked questions

Can I claim both $2,000 and $40?

No. The two cash payments are alternatives. The $2,000 amount is a ceiling for supported, unreimbursed losses, not a guaranteed payment. Credit monitoring may be added to either cash option.

Do I need receipts for the $40 payment?

No loss documentation is required for the $40 alternate cash choice. You still need a complete, signed, timely, valid claim and must be a class member.

Does receiving a breach notice mean I will be paid automatically?

No. The class definition hinges on the written notice, but benefits require a valid claim. The administrator reviews submissions, and the settlement still needs final court approval.

What happens if I do nothing?

You will receive no settlement benefits. If the settlement becomes final and you remain in the class, its release will bar the covered claims about this incident even if you did not file a claim.

Is Class Action Pulse the claims administrator?

No. Kroll Settlement Administration LLC is the administrator. Class Action Pulse is not a law firm or the administrator and cannot determine your eligibility or guarantee payment.
