Overview

The proposed settlement resolves allegations that People Data Labs violated the Colorado Prevention of Telemarketing Fraud Act by listing Colorado citizens' cellular telephone numbers in a directory without obtaining the appropriate consent from September 1, 2022 through March 3, 2026. The case is Cochrane v. People Data Labs, Inc., No. 3:25-cv-09533-RFL, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. The court has not decided which side is right, and final approval is still required.

  • People Data Labs' records identify an inferred mobile number associated with you.
  • The number has a Colorado area code and your record has a current or historical inferred Colorado location.
  • Your data was sourced on or after September 2022 and disclosed at least once between September 2022 and March 3, 2026.
  • You are not otherwise excluded under the settlement terms and do not opt out.

What you could receive

People Data Labs will establish a $6,362,167 settlement fund. After approved notice and administration costs, attorneys' fees, litigation costs and any service award are deducted, the remaining amount will be divided equally among people who submit valid and timely claims. The final payment depends on the number of approved claims.
