The Pillsbury data breach settlement offers two cash benefits that eligible people can combine, plus medical data monitoring. It concerns documents accessed during an April 2025 incident at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, an international law firm. The immediate question is whether you received notice connecting your information to that incident, not whether you recognize the firm.
Claims are due December 7, 2026. The same date controls exclusion requests and written objections, but those actions have different consequences. A cash claim requests benefits; exclusion keeps you outside the settlement; an objection asks the court to reconsider its terms while you remain a member.
The official notice describes alleged conduct and proposed benefits. Pillsbury denies wrongdoing. Neither an accessed record nor a settlement proves that every affected person experienced identity theft, and final approval has not yet been granted.
Who the parties are
Pillsbury provides legal services and, according to the agreement, holds confidential personal and health information relating to legal matters. People can appear in those documents without having hired the firm themselves. The dispute concerns those records, not a consumer product sold under the Pillsbury name.
Allison Archer, Martin Chaveria-Hernandez and Frederico Reyes are the named plaintiffs representing people with similar claims. The Circuit Court for Broward County, Florida oversees case CACE-26-011734. Jeff Ostrow of Kopelowitz Ostrow P.A. and Mariya Weekes of Milberg PLLC are the appointed class lawyers. Shook, Hardy & Bacon L.L.P., including attorney Alfred J. Saikali identified in the notice, represents Pillsbury.
Simpluris, Inc. administers notices, claims and distributions. It is separate from the defendant and the plaintiffs' lawyers. CyEx Medical Shield Complete is the medical-data protection service offered under the settlement; it is not the court or the cash-claim administrator. The agreement also identifies Robert A. Meyer of JAMS as the mediator, a neutral professional who helped the parties negotiate.
What happened
The agreement's procedural history says Pillsbury was targeted by social engineering attempts in April 2025. Social engineering means using deception to manipulate people rather than simply exploiting a software flaw. The agreement says the firm detected and blocked the activity, but an unauthorized actor accessed some documents during a short window.
Pillsbury notified affected clients and reviewed the documents for personal information before notifying individuals. The potential categories include names, birth dates, addresses, Social Security numbers, government identification numbers, medical and insurance information, and financial account information. That list does not establish which categories were involved for a particular recipient.
The parties attended mediation on July 7, 2026 without reaching a deal that day. Subsequent work with the mediator produced a settlement. The current website lists October 2, 2026 as the notification-email date. It schedules final approval for December 22, 2026. This article does not supply an unverified complaint filing date or a complete history of every related proceeding.
What each side says
The notice describes a lawsuit concerning access to private information in the cyberattack. The plaintiffs seek recovery through the settlement rather than continuing to litigate disputed claims. Their lawyers say the agreement is in class members' interests. That is not a judicial finding.
Pillsbury expressly denies the complaint's allegations. The agreement says it settles to avoid the expense, uncertainty, burden and disruption of litigation, without admitting liability, fault or wrongdoing. The reviewed notice does not provide a full claim-by-claim account of the complaint, so this article does not invent one.
What the court has and has not decided
The court has authorized settlement notice and appointed class counsel, according to the official notice. The process lets affected people consider the deal before a final ruling. Preliminary approval allows a proposed settlement to move through notice and review; it is not a trial finding that the defendant caused every alleged harm.
At final approval, the court will consider the settlement, attorney compensation, representative awards and objections. Class counsel intends to request one-third of the defined settlement value as fees and reimbursement of costs, and $2,500 for each representative. These are requests subject to approval, not amounts already awarded. The agreement defines settlement value differently from the cash fund alone, so this article does not convert that request into an unsupported dollar total.
Who may qualify
- Residence and status: Living individuals residing in the United States who received notice that their private information may have been accessed in this incident.
- Incident connection: The April 2025 Pillsbury data incident, not an unrelated breach or every person who used legal services.
- Excluded groups: Pillsbury partners, directors, officers and agents; governmental entities; the assigned judge, immediate family and court staff; and valid opt-outs.
- Loss proof: Actual, unreimbursed losses connected to the incident, within the notice's April 29, 2025 to December 7, 2026 period, supported by receipts or other independent records.
- Basic cash: A valid claim is still required for the pro rata payment, but supporting loss documents are not. Missing notice credentials should be discussed with Simpluris.
The notice defines the class by living U.S. residence and receipt of notice that private information may have been accessed. Being a law-firm client, receiving unrelated breach mail or suffering unrelated fraud is not enough by itself. Simpluris can help resolve uncertainty about membership.
Loss claims must connect the expense to this incident and avoid duplicate reimbursement. The notice specifies losses between April 29, 2025 and December 7, 2026. The agreement additionally requires reasonable efforts to avoid the loss or seek reimbursement, including available monitoring or identity-theft insurance. Its detailed definition and claim-review rules control disputed claims.
What affected readers can do now
Use the official claim form or the claim link on the settlement website. Submit one claim per person. The form allows online filing, mailing the signed form, or emailing an electronic image of it to info@PillsburyDataSettlement.com. Mail goes to Pillsbury Data Incident Settlement, P.O. Box 25226, Santa Ana, CA 92799-9958.
Choose the benefits you seek, provide accurate contact and payment details, and attach independent loss records where needed. The form offers PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, a virtual prepaid card or a physical check. Save your confirmation and copies. The administrator may request more information. Under paragraph 92, a deficiency response is due by the later of the claim deadline or ten days after the notice is sent. A request on this website does not replace that process.
What you could receive
Pro rata cash
Submit a valid claim for an equal share of the remaining fund. No loss documentation is required, and no individual amount is established. This can be combined with approved documented losses.
Up to $3,000 for losses
Claim qualifying, unreimbursed incident-related losses with independent proof. Approved loss payments share a $1.5 million aggregate cap and can be reduced proportionally. Self-prepared notes alone are insufficient.
One year of medical monitoring
Eligible members receive a code for CyEx Medical Shield Complete. The agreement provides activation after its effective date. Contact Simpluris for missing codes or timing clarification; an insurance limit is not a cash payment.
The pro rata cash benefit divides remaining funds equally among valid claimants who request it. Pro rata means a payment allocated under the approved formula, not a fixed advertised award. The documented-loss benefit permits up to $3,000 for qualifying losses with receipts, statements or other independent proof. Personal notes alone are insufficient, and reimbursed expenses cannot be claimed again. Under paragraph 72(a), a rejected or uncured loss claim is treated as a pro rata cash claim, not a promise of loss reimbursement.
Approved documented losses share a $1.5 million aggregate cap and are reduced proportionally if necessary. There is a funding distinction worth preserving. The FAQ summarizes a $2.34 million fund; paragraphs 68 and 72 of the agreement specify separately funded documented-loss payments. This article follows the agreement rather than calling the fund the total possible recovery.
Medical monitoring is additional to cash. Codes are sent automatically, but using the service requires activation. The notice's broad statement that benefits require a claim should not be read to erase paragraph 72(c), which provides automatic codes and activation following the effective date. Ask Simpluris about missing codes or current activation timing. The service includes one-bureau credit monitoring, medical and health savings account monitoring, dark-web and transaction alerts, freeze assistance and victim support. Its $1 million insurance limit is coverage under its terms, not a settlement check.
Important dates and rights
December 7, 2026 is the cash-claim deadline. Paragraph 66 defines timely online submission as no later than 11:59 p.m. Eastern; mailed forms must be postmarked by that date. The paper form permits email submission by the deadline but does not separately specify an email cutoff time.
Exclusion requests must be personally signed and postmarked by December 7. The notice requires the case name, contact details and a clear request for exclusion. Written objections must be filed with the clerk by December 7, with copies sent to the administrator and both sides' lawyers. Follow every requirement in the notice, including objection-history and artificial-intelligence-use disclosures.
Remaining in the class binds you to the release if the settlement becomes effective, even without a cash claim. The release extends beyond Pillsbury to defined related parties, including impacted clients. Opting out forfeits settlement benefits but preserves any separate rights you may have. An objection is not an opt-out.
Definitions
A class representative brings claims for people with similar issues. Class counsel represents that group. A settlement administrator carries out the practical notice and payment process. Documented losses are actual expenses supported by records, not an assumed amount for exposure. A release is the surrender of specified legal claims. The effective date is the agreement's operative date after the approval and appeal conditions are satisfied.
What happens next
The hearing is scheduled for December 22, 2026 at 8:45 a.m. Eastern, in Room 16-150 of the Broward County courthouse, with a remote option listed in the official notice. Attendance is not required to claim. Check the settlement website because the schedule may change without further notice. Payments depend on final approval and resolution of any appeals. Neither the final pro rata amount nor an individual delivery date is established.
Sources and evidence boundaries
The official notice, FAQ, claim form and agreement support this article's membership rules, caps, dates, denials and procedures. The agreement supplies more precise funding, online-cutoff and monitoring terms than the website's summaries. No estimate of a typical payment, individualized exposure finding or guarantee of approval is provided here.
Class Action Pulse is not a law firm or settlement administrator and does not guarantee eligibility or payment. Use official materials and Simpluris for claims and case-specific questions; seek independent legal advice about surrendering rights.
Frequently asked questions
Can I claim both cash benefits?
Yes. The agreement allows pro rata cash in addition to qualifying documented losses. Only the loss benefit requires independent supporting records, and loss payments can be reduced under the aggregate cap.
Do all members get $3,000?
No. That is a per-person ceiling for approved losses, not a standard payment. The pro rata cash amount is unknown and depends on remaining funds and valid claims.
What if I lost my notice or monitoring code?
Contact Simpluris through the official settlement site or at (844) 496-1265. It can address membership, missing credentials, and medical monitoring activation. Do not send private codes to Class Action Pulse.
When will payments arrive?
The hearing is scheduled for December 22, 2026 at 8:45 a.m. Eastern. Payments depend on final approval and resolution of any appeals; no individual payment date is guaranteed.
